Ladies Rock Camp

LRC Spring 2018 applications are up!

And applications for our newest adult ROCK program, South Sound LRC, are up, too!!!

Ladies Rock Camp (LRC) is a weekend day camp that builds our community of volunteers, mentors and activists that support Rain City Rock Camp for Girls’ youth programming. LRC is an opportunity for individuals* 21 and over to let loose for the weekend and play rockin’ music together. You’ll choose an instrument, receive instruction, form a band, and work together to write an original song that you’ll play on stage Sunday. Over the course of the weekend you’ll also be offered a variety of workshops on topics related to being a person who rocks!

LRC Goals:

  • To strengthen the Rock Camp community by building safer spaces to grow, learn, express, create and activate around equity.
  • To develop a common language among adults about music, bands, media literacy, and gender issues in music so that RCRC’s youth participants  are hearing consistent messages from mentors and leaders.
  • To give womxn and gender non-conforming/non-binary individuals a space to focus on their own personal growth.

*A sliding scale is a tool that can provide equitable access to skill-building and life-long learning opportunities, regardless of financial resources. This method of payment requires active participation and personal reflection on what makes sense for your family’s financial situation, and how you would like to support learning in the Rain City Rock Camp community. The sliding scale is one way of acknowledging differences in wealth, income, costs, and privilege and actively addresses the economic disparities in our communities and society. Rain City Rock Camp is using this model as a way to say ‘no’ to the ways things are and ‘yes’ to the ways we believe things can be, while providing an excellent rock camp experience for all. We hope that this fee structure offers more rad people the opportunity to engage in our community. If this cost structure is still inhibitive, please contact [email protected] to find out about payment plans and additional scholarship programs.

Volunteer at LRC

We need lots of folks to help make Ladies Rock Camp an amazing experience for our campers, and we now have two kinds of volunteer opportunities!

LRC Teaching Artists are folks who teach instrument instruction, teach workshops, or coach a band. Because LRC has a limited number of openings for these positions, this is an application process, not a sign up. All people who identify as female (cis or trans*), or gender non-conforming are welcome to be LRC Teaching Artists.

LRC Support Crew are folks who help set up, tear down, and run Ladies Rock Camp throughout the weekend. Everyone is welcome to sign up to be a part of this crew.

Volunteer applications for our 2018 programs will be posted in the new year!

If you would like to engage in other year-round volunteer opportunities at Rain City Rock Camp, please fill our our new General Application here:
