Mental Health Crew
Our Mental Health Crew (MHC) volunteers provide support, conflict-resolution, and crisis management for campers, as well as support for staff and volunteers throughout camp. Adjusting to a new environment, learning a new instrument, and collaborating with a new band can be overwhelming at times. MHC members are in place to provide a safe and supportive environment for campers and volunteers who are adjusting to the potential challenges involved with these activities. MHC members may be called to work one-on-one with a camper or volunteer who is in need of counseling, or to work with a band as they navigate interpersonal dynamics. Our “fun” at camp is also a vehicle for dismantling systems of oppression on an intra- and inter-personal level. This can bring up conflict and sometimes can trigger past traumas. MHC members help us to create a space of emotional support at camp, but they do not provide ongoing therapy for campers or volunteers outside of camp.
Cis women and all adults who identify within the trans umbrella, including non-binary folks, are welcome to apply for this position.
In the Volunteer Application, Mental Health Crew volunteers may sign up for whatever shifts they are available to work. Both AM and PM shifts are available.
