The best antidote to the world’s negative messages about people of marginalized genders is to make sure their voices are heard—because we ROCK!

Rain City Rock Camp’s youth and adult programs center and support womxn, girls (cis and trans) and gender expansive folks, both in the content of our programming and in the identities of the mentors who are a part of our community. Our programs address holistic aspects of positive development—like building self esteem and encouraging self expression—while offering strengths-based, collaborative music learning.

Participants receive instrument instruction from local musicians and write, rehearse and perform original songs with the support of mentors. They examine the music industry through a social justice lens, discuss media impact on self-image, learn how to set boundaries, explore basic self-defense tactics, and address topics that support their holistic development, such as body positivity, teamwork and problem solving.

We strive to create a community where our program participants feel empowered to use their creative energies to comment upon the social fabric of their surroundings, in discontent and in celebration!
