Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with a youth program at Rain City Rock Camp! Below are detailed role descriptions for each position available at our youth programs, which currently include South Sound Rocks! and Summer Camp.

Adults of marginalized genders are welcome to apply for all leadership roles within RCRC. Black/Black of the Diaspora and First Nations/Indigenous Communities of Color applicants are highly encouraged to apply.

  • Camp Counselors
    As a mentor for your campers, your goal will be to create a safe, supportive environment that allows your band to build confidence through creative expression. Counselors participate in workshops, band practice, and assemblies with their campers. Counselors do not need any music experience! 
  • Band Coaches
    You will be paired with two different youth bands and guide them throughout the week-long process of creating an original song for the showcase. You will support the songwriting process by providing structure and encouraging collaboration.
  • Instrument Instructors
    As an instructor, you will facilitate small group lessons for beginning or intermediate learners ages 8-17 during a week-long camp session. We are seeking Instructors who are comfortable teaching vocals, keyboard, guitar, bass, or drums. The primary goals of each instruction period are to create a positive and encouraging class atmosphere by demonstrating practical instrument techniques with the flexibility to support individual camper needs
  • Media Team
    As a member of the media team, you will assist the Media Lead in documenting the camp experience through photos, recordings, and graphic design elements.
  • Mental Health Crew
    You will provide support, conflict resolution and crisis management for campers ages 8 to 17 as well as support for staff and volunteers throughout the week of camp. Knowledge of social/emotional regulation and trauma-informed care basics strongly recommended.
